About Us

Our Beginnings

Probonafide was established in 2006 by a group of friends. Our core group is made up of professional designers, project managers, and writers in the DC metro area who share a common interest to give back to society.

Recognizing the Need

As professionals we know the power of communication is leveraged through great design. We also know the cost can sometimes be out of reach. For those organizations who serve the public good and work toward a better world, Probonafide offers discounted rates and pro bono design services (based on our availability). We believe by supporting our client’s mission, we are doing our part to change the world.

Say Hello to Our Team!

Nguyet M. Vuong

Nguyet M. Vuong

Nguyet, founding member of Probonafide, is a web designer and artist with more than a decade of professional experience. After spending part of her childhood in a refugee camp, she dedicates much of her time towards philanthropic work. She believes in communication and that design is a powerful voice. Crystal Curtis

Crystal Curtis

Crystal, founding member of Probonafide, is a classically trained artist and graphic designer with 10 years of professional experience. Her philanthropic spirit began as a child and strengthened in adulthood – after realizing design could be a catalyst for change. By day she is Creative Director of a Technology Company and at other times mother to a spirited toddler and wife to her best friend. She and Nguyet also co-founded New Way Design, a small design studio specializes in web, print and identity design. Crystal serves as Project Manager and Designer for Probonafide.

Sarina Espejo

Sarina Espejo

Sarina is…”MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE.” She can transform from a “Princess” to a lazy couch potato to a Creative Graphic Designer–and that’s just by noon. She’s full of energy and loves to travel but ironically works from home. Best chance of a Sarina sighting is at Starbucks around 2:30pm, only 1.5 miles from her house, for a hot chocolate fix.

She is an active member of Leadership Howard County and bravely mentors teens in their youth leadership program. Kim serves as Writer, Copy Editor, and Program Manager for Probonafide.

Sarah Baker

Sarah Baker

Living and working in Northern Virginia, Sarah is an artistic mullet: conservative and structured designer at work; all party the rest of the time. She DID grow up in a barn and her influences are Mucha, her friends, and Pinot Grigio. Sarah serves as Designer for Probonafide.

Rhiannon Thumma

Rhiannon Thumma

Rhiannon is a trained graphic designer who has moved into the project management realm of things for print and web. She is still trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up! People are her inspiration and motivation. She fizzles out quickly without the energy of others, but she’s also often been told that her own energetic spirit is very contagious. Be kind, be open (be green!) and she’ll help you with anything she can. Rhiannon serves as Project Manager for Probonafide.
